Privacy Policy

This policy explains how CaveDevil Survey and CaveDevil Map Manager handle information. They are provided by Glazer Dynamics Pty Ltd, ACN 699 791 609, ABN 71 699 791 609, D-U-N-S Number 781596875 ("we", "us", or "our").

Summary

CaveDevil Survey is a local-first cave surveying app. It has no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs and does not track people across apps or websites. Survey data stays on the device unless the user explicitly shares it or uploads it to a CaveDevil server.

Information we handle

Survey and user-provided content

The app stores survey names, team names, notes, station names, shot comments, sketches, distances, azimuths, inclinations, timestamps, declination, instrument identifiers, measurement quality, device readings, calibration samples, results, and related settings. This is used for survey capture, editing, visualisation, calibration, export, and sync.

Accounts and service information

Map Manager handles account details such as email address, display name, authentication identifiers, club memberships and roles. When paid services are used, our payment provider processes payment and billing information; we receive transaction, subscription, and entitlement details rather than full card details.

Bluetooth and nearby devices

The mobile app scans for and connects to compatible Bluetooth Low Energy survey instruments. It uses advertised names, identifiers, services, signal information, and measurements only to identify, connect to, and operate a selected instrument. Android 11 and earlier require location permission for Bluetooth scanning, but CaveDevil Survey does not request, derive, store, or transmit GPS or network location. Newer Android versions declare scanning as never used to derive location.

Credentials and technical records

The mobile app stores its linked device token or optional API key in operating-system secure storage. When the app or website contacts our service, servers and infrastructure providers may process ordinary request information such as IP address, timestamps, browser or app version, platform, package name, request headers, and security logs. Pairing also sends a generic device label.

When information leaves the device

The mobile app does not upload surveys automatically.

• When a user chooses Upload, survey content and instrument metadata are sent to the selected CaveDevil server and associated with the linked account.
• When a user chooses Share, the operating system passes the exported file to the selected destination, whose own privacy policy applies.
• Firmware features contact the configured service to check for and download releases.

Users may configure another server. Its operator is responsible for that server's privacy practices. We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising, advertising measurement, or cross-app tracking.

Permissions

• Bluetooth and nearby devices: connect to survey instruments.
• Location on Android 11 and earlier: permits Bluetooth scanning only.
• Notifications, foreground service, wake lock, and vibration: keep a user-started Pocket Mode session active and provide shot feedback.
• Network access: account, sync, sharing, and firmware features.

The mobile app does not request camera, microphone, contacts, health, advertising identifier, or precise GPS access.

How we use and disclose information

We use information to provide, secure, maintain, support, and improve the requested app and service features; administer accounts, workspaces, clubs, and billing; respond to requests; prevent abuse; and comply with legal obligations. Information may be processed by contracted hosting, authentication, storage, email, and payment providers acting for these purposes, and may be disclosed where required by law or to protect rights and service security.

Retention and deletion

Local surveys and calibration sessions remain until the user deletes them or removes the app or its data. A local survey can be deleted from the survey list. Unlinking removes the device credential from the phone but does not delete uploaded records or the web account.

Account holders may request access, correction, export, or deletion through Support. We retain information while needed to provide the service and may retain limited records for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, disputes, financial recordkeeping, backups, or enforcement. Deletion from backups may occur through the normal backup lifecycle.

Security and international processing

Production connections use HTTPS and mobile authentication secrets use secure device storage. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Service information may be processed wherever our providers operate, subject to applicable safeguards and law.

Children

These specialist surveying services are not directed to children. If you believe a child supplied personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes and contact
